Location notes
Situated on the East Coast Main Line 27 miles north of London Kings Cross. This is the site of the former Stevenage station, before the new town was build.
Railway type and traffic
The southern part of the ECML plays host to mainly First Capital Connect and NXEC services, some freight services. This section is four tracks.
Environment
This location is off an industrial units car park. There is a fair amount of people moving around but this should not be a problem as you would be standing at the back of the units, out of the way.
Road directions
From the A1, junction 8:
Take the A602 into Stevenage. Cross straight over two roundabouts (2nd exits) watching for the speed cameras after the 1st roundabout. continue down the dual carriageway and you will enter a 1 way system. Follow the system all the way round. Once you have are facing north again keep left and when you have almost have reached the place where you entered the system turn left into Julians Road. Just as the road bears right there is a left turning, opposite the pub, which will lead you into the Julians Road industrial units take this and park here. The location is behind the unit buildings.

Parking
The industrial units have visitors parking but check where you park your car could get clamped if you park in a restricted space.
Amenities
There is a pub located on the entrance to the industrial units, and Stevenage old town has many pubs (About 10), several restaurants, and a couple of newsagents

Photographic notes
The main view from this location is facing south. The view to the north is framed/blocked by a road bridge. The line is in a cutting and between houses so the light in the morning can be a bit dark.
Note that high palisade fencing has now been erected by the line side at this site so a set of steps will be needed. There do not appear to be any gaps in the fence line, unfortunately.
