New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
Located about midway on the Leeds to Carforth. Hellifield is also about 3 miles south east of Settle junction and Located about 10 miles North West of Skipton.
Railway type and traffic
Most of the local services to Carlisle are operated by 156 multiple units.
Local services to Carnforth are operated by 142s, 144s or 156s. There are a number of freight services operated by DB Schenker/Freightliner/DRS.

Environment
Hellifield is situated on the western side of the Pennines. The weather may change at any time. It would be advisable to have warm clothing to hand.
Road directions
Turn north on to Station Road from the A65(T) once in Hellifield village.

There is a car park at the station.
Public transport
There is a train roughly every 2 hours in each direction to Leeds and Carlisle. There are also 4 trains a day from Lancaster and Morecambe.

Amenities
There is a cafe on the station, open every day until 4pm (except Mondays). There are also shops in the local village.

Photographic notes
The station has semaphore signals, so you get a few minutes notice before a train arrives. To the east is Hellifield South Junction. The West Coast diversions and some freight turn off south here ,towards Clitheroe, the rest continue towards Skipton.

This view shows a diverted service heading away from the station and crossing over to the Clitheroe line to travel onwards to Manchester.

This view shows a southbound service. The station has some quite ornate iron work. But unfortunately the end of the platform is fenced off at this point. So this is as far as you can get.
